Sea-punk, goths, drags, harajuku and many other subcultures. It’s almost possible to categorize everyone, or literally pigeonholling* people. And so there are millions of people daily assessed only on appearance. It’s easy for our mind to categorize persons, but is it even possible to categorize everyone?
We’ve met some outstanding persons at the AMFI presents fashion films event. CharaCharaboy was a guy fully dressed up in red, decorated with gold. Together with his friend they made a blazing appearance. She was wearing fur and pink patent leather. Are these two persons even catogorizable to any subculture if they are such unique individuals? Oh well, if not they could represent the Crazy-Chara-subculture.

It’s a fact the way you dress, in the most cases, is connected to your state of mind. The hippies felt themselves rather free and emo’s were often emotionally. In the AMFI Fashion-Film “Dream a little Dream of me” was shown that a particular garment carries a feeling with it. A young woman was wearing her grandmother’s jacket and tnrough this, she relived her grannies time. The memory was revived through the garment.
It’s is clear that the way someone is dressed is connected to your identity. What you wear is how you feel. But.. It doesn’t has to mean that what you wear is who you are.
* used to say that someone or something is being unfairly thought of or described as belonging to a particular group, having only a particular skill.
