It’s not just an ordinary mannequin.. She’s different, she is striking, she is stylish. She is a mannequin of the future and even a mannequin of today. A mannequin with a story, because behind her is a lot going on..

Last week I was invited to the launch party of Hans Boodt, which was held in his showroom. Hans Boodt is a leader in the world of (fashion) mannequins. He is producing mannequins for a lot of retail stores worldwide, take for example Topshop, River Island, Diesel and G-star.

While I was looking around I immediately saw a link between the collection of Hans Boodt and todays fashion industry. Fashion is going faster than ever. Once upon a time, there were two fashion seasons: Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. But the speed of fashion today is extremely; in 2014 the fashion industry is churning out 52 micro-seasons per year. Due to the rapidly changing collections, the merchandising of stores should also be faster. In my opinion Hans Boodt may pose a solution for this situation.

The mannequins of his collection were dynamically, varied and surprising. It was striking that parts of the bodies can be mixed. Different arms, legs and heads can be attached to each other. In this way, a mannequin can change rapidly. Different materials complement each other in a playful way. Part of his collection are the “The changing faces”. The heads of these mannequins are interchangeable. Through a simple magnetic heads are frequently and easily changed. Retail stores may use the mannequins for a longer period of time and that makes this process even more sustainable.

Hans Boodt Mannequins knows how to respond on current trends and the need of his customers. The collection of Hans Boodt left a great impression on me. Before I visited his showroom I had no idea that there was so much to do behind a mannequin. From now on I will never visit a store without taking a glance at the beauty and diversity of mannequins.
